Higgsfield, a San Francisco-based AI developer, has announced a successful $8 million seed funding round to further develop its video creation tools tailored for social media marketers. Unlike some competitors, Higgsfield aims to empower marketing departments by rapidly generating animated content for social media platforms rather than focusing on long-form AI-generated videos.

Founded by former Snap director of generative AI Alex Mashrabov, Higgsfield's flagship mobile application, Diffuse, allows users to create AI-generated animated videos based on user prompts and uploaded photos. The company emphasizes ease of use and plans to use the new funding to enhance its mobile AI video model.

The seed round was led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from other notable investors such as Charge Ventures, Bitkraft Ventures, K5 Tokyo Black, DVC, and AI Capital Partners. Additionally, angel investors including Jack Brody, Nima Khajehnouri, Ilya Gelfenbeyn, Abhay Parasnis, and Amar Hanspal also contributed to the funding.

To prevent the misuse of its technology for creating deepfakes, Higgsfield employs a cartoon animation style in its Diffuse app. The company plans to add AI watermarking to its platform and collaborate with major content and social media platforms to authenticate and attribute content effectively.
