A French quantum computer business called C12, which was created by twin brothers, has successfully raised $19.4 million.

An announcement has been made by C12 that it has recently completed a funding round with a total of €18 million ($19.4 million at the current exchange rate). The company was initially established in the year 2020 as a spin-off from the Physics Laboratory of the École Normale Supérieure. Since its inception, the company has been engaged in the development of a novel method for the production of quantum computers that are based on carbon nanotubes.

It is true that the idea of quantum computing is not new; nonetheless, it is still very much in the process of being developed. There are numerous research teams that have been approaching this subject from a variety of perspectives. In order to achieve the goal, it is necessary to develop a quantum computer that is capable of doing calculations with a minimal amount of mistakes.

However, before we proceed, how come we require quantum computers in the first place? Electron transistors are the fundamental building blocks of modern computers in their current existence. Furthermore, we have grown quite skilled at shrinking transistors, which has allowed us to cram a greater number of transistors onto a single chip. Therefore, throughout the course of the past sixty years, the amount of computer power has increased at a rate that is exponential.
