Germany-based Aleph Alpha has successfully raised $500 million in a Series B funding round. This accomplishment comes as AI startups outside the United States continue to attract significant investments.

Bosch Ventures, the Schwarz Group firms, and Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence led the funding round. Notable new investors include Burda Principal Investments, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, SAP, and Christ & Company Consulting.

Founded in 2019, Aleph Alpha specializes in enabling businesses to create and implement multimodal and large-scale language models. Its presence in Europe is seen as a valuable differentiator from American counterparts like OpenAI and Anthropic.

Germany's Vice Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs, Robert Habeck, emphasized the importance of European AI sovereignty, stating, 'The thought of having our own sovereignty in the AI sector is extremely important. We haven't gained much if Europe has the best regulations but no European companies.'

While Aleph Alpha did not disclose its valuation in the latest financing, data from Crunchbase indicates that the company has raised approximately $640 million to date.
