6 Questions with Adit Jain, co-founder and CEO of Leena AI

It's our pleasure to catch up with Adit Jain, who is the co-founder and CEO of Leena AI. Leena AI is is an enterprise conversational AI that enhances employee experience via HR helpdesk automation and employee engagement software.

1. What inspired you to pursue a career in AI, and how did you get started in the field?

My interest in AI was sparked during my undergraduate studies at IIT Delhi. The idea of creating intelligent machines that can learn, reason, and solve problems has always excited me.

I was particularly intrigued by the idea of creating machines that could learn and adapt to changing circumstances. I found the potential applications of AI in various fields, such as healthcare, finance, and transportation, to be fascinating.

I began exploring the field of AI through research projects with my batchmates, Mayank Goyal and Anand Prajapati. A few years later, in 2018, we co-founded Leena AI to help enterprises improve their productivity and efficiency through the use of AI-powered chatbots.

Over the years since our inception we kept our ear to the ground and tried to understand the needs of our customers, so we could evolve with them. Today, Leena AI is an enterprise virtual assistant that’s been empowering employee-facing teams with over 350+ customers across 90+ countries.

2. Can you give us an overview of how you started Leena AI?

Leena AI started as a project to automate HR processes using AI. My co-founders and I realized that many enterprises struggle with HR-related tasks, such as onboarding, benefits enrollment, and answering employee questions.

We saw an opportunity to leverage chatbots to automate these tasks and provide employees with a more seamless and convenient experience.

We began by building a prototype chatbot for HR and testing it with a few organizations. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, and we quickly realized that the same technology could be applied to other areas of the enterprise.

Today, we offer an extensive suite of solutions for HR as well as IT services.

3. What are some of the most exciting and challenging aspects of working in AI today?

One of the most exciting aspects of working in AI today is the potential for groundbreaking innovation. We are seeing rapid advancements in Natural Language Processing (NLP), computer vision, and deep learning that are enabling new applications and capabilities. GPT, Generative AI, LLMs are the biggest trends today.

We are moving towards a time where Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) will not be limited to sci-fi books and movies, and instead be in the hands of people.

Moving on to the challenging aspects, I believe it is about balancing the opportunity an AGI unlocks with the potential risks of what it might do to civilization as we know it today.

Another challenge is ensuring that AI systems are transparent, fair, and unbiased, particularly when they are making decisions that impact people's lives.

In fact, these are the conversations that need to be had right now - not just from a technological aspect, but also from a socio-economic and culture perspective. Essentially, AI is simultaneously the most exciting and the most challenging thing to happen in our time.

4. How do you see AI evolving in the coming years, and what role do you think it will play in society?

In the coming years, I believe that AI will continue to play an increasingly important role in society, which will disrupt the way people interact with technology. We are already seeing AI being used to improve healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability, among other areas.

However, there are also significant challenges that need to be addressed, particularly around the ethical and social implications of AI. As AI becomes more integrated into our lives, it is important that we develop it in a way that is aligned with human values and that benefits everyone.

At Leena AI, we are committed to developing AI-powered solutions that are transparent, ethical, and compliant with data privacy regulations.

5. What AI tools have you tried and been impressed with recently?

One AI tool that has impressed me recently is GPT-3. This language model has shown remarkable progress in NLP and generation, and has the potential to enable a wide range of applications, from chatbots to content generation to language translation.

At Leena AI as well, we have integrated with GPT-3 in our solutions, and have found that it can improve the accuracy and quality of responses. That said, it is also important to recognize the limitations of these tools and to use them in a responsible and ethical manner.

6. What can we expect to see coming out of Leena AI in the near future?

In the near future, you can expect to see Leena AI continue to innovate and expand our offerings. We are constantly improving our AI-powered solutions and technology to provide a better user experience and to enable more advanced use cases.

For example, at the moment we are building a version of KnowledgeGPT for enterprises, which allows users to directly ask questions relating to their documents.

We are also building our version of AutoGPT meant for enterprises i.e. a solution where a simple instruction can give you everything needed to create a personalized workflow.
